On completion of the project at Borough Grange, the Energy Minister, Rt Hon Malcolm Wickes, MP visited the premises in order to officially turn on the Solar Panel System. The installation of the solar panels was an inspired environmental idea of the client and consultancy team.

The solar panels were installed on one of the highest parts of the building and faced south. They were installed as a pre-heating system for the heating generators to conserve energy and pre-heat the water.

Complementary to this system, a remotely controlled "Pillinger" control system was installed. This system monitors the ambient temperature within each dwelling and can be remotely checked and assessed via a telephone line and modem.
